چکیده

The aim of the study was to determine role 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) at end benzimidazole therapy in alveolar echinococcosis. A total 22 patients undergoing PET/CT were retrospectively registered. Maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) measured remaining echinococcus manifestations and compared normal liver tissue. Long-term clinical follow-up performed, recorded data included laboratory parameters, information imaging. All had no detectable levels Em-18 antibodies all negative on PET/CT, i.e. without focally increased FDG or higher than normal/non-infected displayed significantly less FDG-uptake tissue, SUVmax 1.8 (interquartile range (IQR) 1.5–3.5) vs. 3.0 (IQR 2.6–5.7), (p < 0.001). Patients clinically followed for a median 9.5 years 6.5–32.0 years) after their initial diagnosis 4.5 3.0–14.0 discontinuation therapy. No patient showed signs recurrent infection last visit. 10-year 20-year freedom from all-cause mortality 95.0% (95% confidence interval 69.5% - 99.3%), both. Two events occurred 292 follow-up; two (9%) died, one because pancreatic cancer, other unknown reasons with antibody levels. Negative FDG-PET/CT results combined may allow safe

Salvage treatment with amphotericin B in progressive human alveolar echinococcosis.

Most patients with alveolar echinococcosis are diagnosed at a late stage when the disease has advanced to unresectable hepatic lesions. These patients require lifelong therapy with benzimidazoles, the only medical treatment currently available. To date, no treatment option remains for patients with benzimidazole intolerance or treatment failure. Amphotericin B was recently shown to exert antipa...

Metastatic and prognostic factors in patients with alveolar echinococcosis.

BACKGROUND Prognostic predictions in alveolar echinococcosis (AE) are usually based on relapse and metastasis. Thus, assessment of factors associated with metastasis and clinical outcomes in patients with alveolar echinococcosis are of significant important. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlated factors for metastasis and prognosis for patients with AE. METHODS We analyz...
